Red Dress Day
May 5th marks the day set aside to recognize and honour Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls in Canada. This day has been dubbed “Red Dress Day”, Inspired by Winnipeg based Metis Artist, Jamie Black. In 2010, Jamie had hung hundreds of empty red dresses in public places to represent missing and murdered indigenous women and girls in an attempt to bring more awareness to the issue. On Friday, May 3rd- in lieu of May 5th- Clearbrook staff will be participating in Red Dress Day by wearing Red. Families are welcome to participate by wearing red on May 3rd.
